A Study on the Ideal Three Generation Sharing House of the Housing Needs of the Middle Aged Person

Abstract
Our serious social problems are a Housing shortage and the loneliness of old man and increasing the supply of three generation sharing house may be suggested as a solution to solve them at same time.
Thus this study aims to make a reference data to build an ideal three generation sharing house by comparing housing needs of the young and the old with those of the middle aged.
A questionaire was distributed to 367 adults aged 30 to 60 in Seoul to get the dwelling plan and living conditions of the middle aged.
The results were as follows:
1. The middle aged tend to live together with their married children (abt. 58.6%).
2. When sharing a house the main problems arise from the relationships among the family members and their different life style.
3. The middle aged wish to live in a independant residence style house of 25 to 35-Pyung in size and almost all of them (abt. 94.8%) want to have their own living room.
4. As for disposition of the necessities, they select to put one or two arm chairs, telephone and T.V and a dressing table in a main bed room.
